Bossier Library Ambassadors Logo

The Bossier Library Ambassadors are a spiritual successor to the Friends of the Bossier Library, a now defunct organization. In their stead, the BLA stands to advocate for our local library.
The client needed a logo to represent people who support the library, but not necessarily of a library itself. They created a few rough drafts by using free assets to describe their vision. Bouncing off of this, I created a number of sketches to explore these ideas. The client wanted to include ideas of growth and community, which we expressed using plant sprouts and heart motifs. The client also preferred to have a bold, blocky typeface. In the end, we were torn between two designs, so we carried them on to the next phase.

For the color palette, the client wanted to show that we support the Bossier Parish Library, but are not directly affiliated with them. To achieve this, we played with using the secondary colors of the Bossier Parish Library branding, both exclusively and in tandem with the BPL’s primary color palette. Out of these roughs, there was also a tie between two different color palettes.

Based on the two designs and two color palettes that were voted upon, these roughs were made. After presenting them, the open book with the sprout was more popular by far. The sprout is a symmetrical heart shape and solid instead of split between two shades of green, which was also preferred. The design has also been tested for social media logo usage, and the black and white alternatives were approved for possible future shirt designs. After some adjustments to make the book shape a bit less abstracted, this is the finished result below.
