JENNYFISH Branding
JENNYFISH is a digital illustrator, animator, graphic designer, and sticker aficionado.
This is personal branding for an artist with a style that is notable for 2 main qualities: bright color and grainy texture. Rather than create a logo from altering an existing font, this one was hand drawn to replicate the artist signature, grain included. The products sold by JENNYFISH are primarily paper goods with themes centered around 90’s and 00’s childhood nostalgia, and the white border and drop shadow reference the first product ever sold by JENNYFISH: stickers!
The logo may be used without a border or drop shadow, and recolored to be monochrome black, white, or other colors in the brand palette. The submark, a smiley face, is also hand drawn; it is also intentionally not exactly symmetrical, under close inspection. This is intentional, as the imperfection is key to artist’s personal works.
The style elements are also hand drawn and textured, reminiscent of doodles. They reflect decora fashion in symbolism, and 80s-90s memphis design when used in patterns. Other doodle elements may also be used, such as lines, arrows, circles, and stars, as long as they are consistent in texture with the logo and other elements.
The recommended fonts to be used are Olivita Regular and Circe Rounded. Olivita is a chunky, serif font, while Circe is a flexible, soft sans serif. For accents, it is recommended to use hand written elements where possible.
The color palette consists of a bright, cool-toned rainbow, also inspired by 80’s-00’s nostalgia. It invokes plastic toys, magical girl anime, and early internet childrens’ websites. The brand is also heavily inspired by Decora Kei and other related types of Harajuku street fashion, which embrace 80s-style maximalism.
